In the City of Charlottesville, the following races will be on the primary ballot: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, House of Delegates (District 57), City Council, and Commonwealth’s Attorney.
If you have not yet registered to vote at your current address, the deadline to register (or to update your registration) prior to the primary is Monday, May 22, 2017.
Absentee voting for the primary election opens on Friday, April 28, 2017. Absentee ballots may be requested and returned by mail, or you can go to the registrar’s office and apply for/cast your absentee ballot in person. If you request an absentee ballot by mail, the last day to make the request is Tuesday, June 6, 2017, by 5:00 pm. (The registrar must receive the request by that date and time.)
If you wish to vote your absentee ballot in person, the last day to do so is the Saturday before the primary election, June 10, 2017. The City of Charlottesville’s Office of Voter Registration is located in the City Hall Annex, 120 Seventh St NE, in Room 142. They are open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
