The Charlottesville Democratic Party established the Grace Tinsley Scholarship in December 2006 to honor the life and work of Grace Tinsley, a wonderful community activist and leader who had a life-long passion for social justice. The scholarships are awarded to Charlottesville High School seniors who have demonstrated the traits that made Grace so effective:
- demonstrated leadership skills
- community service participation
- courage
- humor
- problem solving skills
- perseverance
