Cville Dems will have a table at the Chihamba African-American Cultural Arts Festival on Saturday July 27 at Washington Park. The Festival (the 33rd Annual, always the last Saturday of July) runs from 10:30am-7:30pm and features music, dancing, and vendors; stop by, say hi, and have some fun!
Events
Kickoff for Cville Dems’ “GOTV Thursdays” is this Thursday July 11!
We’ll be on the lawn outside of Brazos Tacos from 5-7pm on Thursday July 11, for canvassing, phone banks, text banks, and postcard writing. Hopefully, we will be meeting every Thursday thereafter through October 31.
Since the picnic benches can fill up fairly quickly, please bring a blanket or chair to sit on the grass.
Postcard writing is an expensive undertaking! If you can contribute to the cost of printing and stamps, please do so by going to our Act Blue Page and clicking on postcards and stamps: https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/charlottesville-democratic-committee-1
Coordinated Campaign’s Cville Canvass Launch Event is Sunday July 14! (but don’t forget Saturday July 13)
The Coordinated Campaign would really love to get a big turnout when Sen Tim Kaine comes to join canvassers on Sunday, July 14; Say hi to Tim and go knock some doors with him!

BUT… you can also do some Saturday canvassing too, to practice up and show him your “A” game (or do Saturday if you can’t make Sunday!):

Citizens’ Climate Lobby Potluck Picnic and Postcard Writing (7/14)
On Sunday, July 14, 1:00-3:00pm, at Pen Park Shelter #2, the Citizens’ Climate Lobby Charlottesville Chapter is putting on a potluck picnic and postcard writing event as part of the Environmental Voter Project (EVP).
All members, friends and family are welcome.
While sharing a meal and socializing, we’ll also write postcards to mobilize climate-friendly voters in Florida’s upcoming primary. We will have postcards and a brief script to copy. The EVP uses data analytics to identify environmental voters, then sends them tested and proven messages. They have a good track record of increasing environmental voter turnout.
Here are the important details (some of which are optional); the most important thing is that YOU be there!
FIND the picnic shelter by locating the tennis courts on Pen Park Road. Turn left at the courts. Parking is down the hill next to the shelters. Here’s a Google Maps link.
BRING a dish to share if you can, but no worries if you can’t! If you’d like, you can sign up here to see what’s needed.
BRING your own beverage or reusable water bottle, plate, and utensils. We’ll have a few compostable items and a jug of water if that’s not doable for you.
BRING your own favorite pens or small non-partisan stickers if you’d like. We’ll also have pens for you to use.
COMMIT to copying EVP’s exact postcard message; they’ve tested their wording, and we’re not allowed to ad-lib or change it.
DRESS for the weather and consider bug spray (the picnic area is near the woods). We’ll be infull shade.
CHECK your email in the morning; we may cancel or relocate in case of extreme weather.
