Come to our Summer Bash on Aug. 23, 5-7pm

Posted on June 9, 2025

Save this date — Saturday, August 23, 5-7pm, for our big night of the year, the Cville Dems Summer Bash. This year’s tickets for the festive night, with speakers and a fine meal from Pearl Island Catering in the air-conditioned (!) Carver Rec Center, will be $40 per person, and sponsorships are available at the levels of $125, $250, $500, $1,000, and $5,000.

Whether as a sponsor or as an individual, go to ActBlue now to get your tickets, and stay tuned for more information! This is our only fundraiser of the year, so we really appreciate all the support you can give us.

Stylized graphic with Multicolored capital letters spelling out "SUMMER" + Brown capital letters spelling out "BASH"(both mounted on a wood plank backing). The plank is set on top of a summer floral arrangement.

Cville Dems’ most important mission this year is to elect Abigail Spanberger as Governor, and her team of Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. All eyes are on Virginia this year as a bellwether state, and we work hard to help Virginia trend in the best direction. Our June primary is coming up June 17. There are six Democratic candidates for Lieutenant Governor and two for Attorney General. These leaders will continue to move Virginia in a direction we desire for November’s election and beyond.

Our goal is to raise $25,000.

How do we use the money? With your contributions, we are hiring one and will hopefully have another paid intern, as they did so much for Cville Dems last year in terms of aiding our volunteer and communication efforts. We will also give two scholarships to  Charlottesville High School graduates in memory of Ora Maupin and Gene Harding, long-time Charlottesville Dems and city employees.

We will use the money to write thousands of postcards to newly registered voters and to encourage voters to elect Democratic candidates. We will host Cville Dem tables at events like the Chihamba Arts Festival, Pride Festival, and Sambrosa Festival, and make contributions to non-profit organizations which share our mission and goals.

We also must replenish our office supplies and print voting materials. Thank you for helping!!
