Last Days of Early Voting in Primary Election

Posted on June 9, 2025

Early voting for June primary races ends Saturday, June 14, 5pm at your Registrar’s Office (weekdays the office is open until 4:30pm). The primary election is Tuesday, June 17, when you can vote at your precinct polling location from 6am-7pm (if you’re still in line at 7pm you can vote).

Cville voters will be able to vote via ranked-choice voting (see below) for City Council candidates. The other primary races will be for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. In addition, Abigail Spanberger is running unopposed as our Democratic gubernatorial candidate.

Voters can also apply for a ballot to be mailed through this Friday, June 6.

The Office of Voter Registration and Elections (Registrar’s Office) for Charlottesville is located at the City Hall Annex, 120 7th St. NE, Room 142 (mailing address is PO Box 1219, 22902), phone# 434-970-3250.

Lieutenant Governor (in alphabetical order)

  • Attorney and former local union president Alex Bastani of Northern Va.
  • State Sen. Ghazala Hashmi of Chesterfield
  • Prince William County School Board Chair and physician Babur Lateef
  • State Sen. Aaron Rouse of Virginia Beach
  • Attorney Victor Salgado, a former Dept. of Justice prosecutor of Arlington
  • Former Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney

Attorney General (in alphabetical order)

  • Commonwealth’s Attorney for Henrico County Shannon Taylor

Charlottesville City Council (in randomized order for the ballot listing)

  • Juandiego Wade
  • Brian Pinkston
  • Jen Fleisher

This race, and only this race, will use ranked-choice voting for the first time in Charlottesville. Rather than voting for just one candidate by filling in a circle, you’ll rank each candidate as either your first, second, or third choice. Your preferred candidate will be ranked #1, your second preferred candidate as #2, and your third preferred candidate as #3… and the top two candidates win. For more details on ranked-choice voting, read this article and/or watch this video.

June 14 No Kings Day Rally at Stonefield

Posted on May 30, 2025

Indivisible Charlottesville poster for theNo Kings Day rally on 6/14 Noon-2pm at the Shops at Stonefield. Image shows an orange-hued photo of trump with a cartoon crown on his head that's been Xed out. The date/time/location information lines are each in a different bold color against a dark blue background filled with rows of barely visible words "No Kings" in black capital letters. No Kings Day rally organized locally by Indivisible Charlottesville is happening June 14, 12-2 pm at Stonefield to protest Trump trying to turn his birthday into a national extravaganza-with-military-parade; we say nuts to that!! This is a big national protest, we hope another Hands Off rally that turned out 4000+ people in April. It’s exhilarating being there with so many like-minded community members, so plan to come out in numbers (i.e. bring along lots of friends and family) to ensure we send a loud and clear message.
