Cville Sabroso Festival — Saturday September 21, 1-10pm

Posted on September 12, 2024

Cville Sabroso 2024 Poster. The top has a yellow background and a cartoon border arch of mixed floral patterns and dancers and musical instruments and Latin food, and inside the arch is the Cville Sabroso logo, name, and text giving the date, location, and time. The middle section, against a red background, shows photos of the 9 performing acts, what nationality they're representing, and what times they're playing. At the bottom, against an orange background, are the names and logos from some of the biggest sponsors and a QR code, a link, and a phone number for more information.Come to Ting Pavilion for the 12th Annual Cville Sabroso Cultural Festival to celebrate the richness and vibrant diversity of Latin American culture and help support a great local community advocacy nonprofit, Sin Barreras (“Without Barriers”).

The Festival is a family-friendly fiesta + culture faire, 9 hours of live music, lively dance performances, Latino food, artisan crafts, and interactive cultural activities for kids. More info on the Cville Sabroso Facebook page, tickets available here (kids 12 and under are free).

The Cville Dems will have a table there, and Nancy Damon (nancycdamon@gmail.com) is looking for a few people to help us there. Sin Barreras itself also needs a few more volunteers; putting on a show for 5000 attendees takes a village! If you’d like to generate some goodwill for the Dems from the Latino community, volunteer at its SignUp Genius page (Spanish language skills are not required).

Event Report: September 10 Debate Watch Party

Posted on September 12, 2024

An energized crowd of about 75 turned out for a Debate Watch Party at Fry’s Spring Beach Club on Tuesday evening 9/10 (preceded by free cocktail reception, Josh and Minhee Throneburg made great drinks!)… and the partygoers more than got their money’s worth! Vice President Kamala Harris was magnificent and clearly won the debate; Trump’s face here pretty much says it all. A great night that gave yet another boost to Harris and down-ballot candidates. No wonder everyone in the crowd photo below was smiling!
