Address Gun Violence

Close background check loopholes at gun shows, private sales, online sales, and pawn shops.
Mandated waiting periods before every gun purchase.
Ban assault weapons.

Volunteer Efforts to Win in November are Gearing Up!

3 Cville Dem volunteers registering 2 new voters at our tent June 2022 As soon as we know who the Democratic 5th District candidate will be, Get Out the Vote Thursdays will resume on Thursday, June 27 at IX Park. We’ll then meet every Thursday to canvass, phone bank, text bank (new for us), and/or write postcards. We’ll be reaching out to specific potential voters we identify in the City of Cville and the 5th District, and also coordinating with the campaigns to help them reach their targeted individuals. Together we can reach out to thousands of registered voters and turn them into actual Democratic votes this November!

In 130 Days We’ll Nominate a President – Do You Want to be Involved?

We’ll have a brief full Cville Dems meeting followed by a Caucus in Charlottesville on Monday, April 22, in the Swanson Room, Central Library branch (explained below). Doors will open at 6pm, followed by the meeting 6:30-6:50pm. Registration for the Caucus will begin at 7:00pm, and the Caucus will begin at 7:30pm.

The Caucus is an event to elect Charlottesville delegates and alternates to attend both the Fifth Congressional District Democratic Convention (May 18 in Fluvanna County) and the DPVA State Convention (June 22 in Richmond). If you’d like to be elected as a Charlottesville delegate or alternate, you must pre-file (see article just below).

We need to elect 14 delegates plus three alternates at the Caucus – yes, we need 17 people to volunteer for this important Democratic representation of Charlottesville at both the Fifth District convention and the DPVA State convention in Richmond. Delegates must attend both conventions. It’s satisfying and enjoyable to be part of this political process, which goes all the way to determining the next President and Vice President.
