Our Mission This Year

Cville Dems, as an organization, has one main mission this year: get our Virginia candidates elected up and down the ballot.

In the coming months, you’ll hear lots about:

  • our productive Ix Park “Turn Out the Vote Thursdays” where volunteers send postcards, make phone calls, canvass, and create community with fellow Dems
  • voter registration at community events
  • candidate events
  • and other election efforts!

Please join in! Our governor’s race is the first big election since Trump (and Elon) took over. Virginia needs to turn out in big numbers to show how angry we are.

Our weekly Call to Action, emailed every Monday, will list things to do locally and regionally, ranging from local community events to all-out protests.

We have important appointed positions and committee positions that are great ways to get involved and contribute your talents! Please contact cvilledemschair@gmail.com for more info.

Campaign Liaison — a fun and interesting role; you get to be on the front lines of multiple campaigns, learning who’s running and what they stand for.
Albemarle County Dems Liaison — attend the monthly Albemarle Dems meeting to keep them posted about our activities and also report back to us about their activities.
Breakfast/Events Chair — work with the co-chairs to plan and schedule monthly programs.
Voter Registration Committee — a great team of volunteers has been doing in-person voter registration and phone/email follow-up and it’s working: they’ve signed up over 730 new local voters who went on to cast ballots!
Voter Protection Committee — if you care about protecting American democracy and aren’t intimidated by the technical details and legalese, this committee needs your talents!
Fundraising Committee — Nancy Damon is reactivating it and needs group input on brainstorming some ideas.
Communications Committee — help keep our website and social media fresh! An hour or two a week is all it takes, no advanced tech knowledge is required. Contact communications@cvilledems.org if you might be interested in joining.

Denouncing Russian Invasion of Ukraine

The executive committee of the Charlottesville Democrats strongly denounces the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We stand with the Ukrainian people in their resistance to this aggression, and we support both President Biden’s support of the Ukrainian military defense and his economic and diplomatic pressure on Russia.

We have t-shirts, laptop stickers and bumper stickers. Proceeds go directly to supporting the C’ville Dems activities. T-shirts will be delivered by C’ville Dems to your home address if you live within Charlottesville or Albemarle.
