Call to Action, Week of Monday, May 19

TONIGHT: ALL ARE WELCOME at the Full Committee Meeting, May 19, 6-8 pm at Fry’s Spring Beach Club patio. We’ll hear from statewide candidates and Jen Fleisher for City Council, do a ranked-choice voting exercise, and cover some important topics for spring and summer. Light refreshments served.

Tomorrow: Training for Spanberger campaign, “Talking to Strangers” on Tuesday, May 20, 4-6 pm in the Swanson Case Room of JMRL Central Library. This Monday, May 19, 6pm Full Committee Meeting for ALL!

Join us for a jam-packed Cville Dems Committee meeting THIS Monday, May 19th, from 6-8pm at Fry’s Spring Beach Club. Here’s a quick list of all that will be happening:

  • Quick Updates (Primary Election, Thursdays at Ix & Summer Bash)
  • Bodo’s Bagel Straw Poll – using 3 popular bagel types, we’ll test run ranked-choice voting so people can see how it will work on Primary Day. Bring passionate opinions about bagels!
  • Candidate Presentations – a couple for lieutenant governor, representatives for a couple other candidates, and City Council candidate Jen Fleisher will be introducing themselves.
  • Spanberger Rep Jimmy Flood will share about the Governor race and how you can help.

Early Voting Begins Friday for the Primary Election

Voting on Election Day, Tuesday, June 17, is done at your precinct polling location.

Cville voters will be able to vote via ranked-choice voting for City Council candidates (see below for more on ranked-choice voting). The other primary races will be for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General. Abigail Spanberger is not being opposed as our Gubernatorial Candidate.

The Voter registration deadline is Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Voters can also apply for a ballot to be mailed to you through Friday, June 6.

The Office of Voter Registration and Elections (Registrar’s Office) for Charlottesville is located at the City Hall Annex, 120 7th St. NE, Room 142 (mailing address is PO Box 1219, same zip code), and phone number is 434-970-3250.

Lieutenant Governor (in the order you will see on the ballot)

  • Former Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney
  • Prince William County School Board Chair and physician Babur Lateef
  • State Sen. Aaron Rouse of Virginia Beach
  • Attorney Victor Salgado, a former Dept. of Justice prosecutor of Arlington
  • State Sen. Ghazala Hashmi of Chesterfield
  • Attorney and former local union president Alex Bastani of Northern Va.

Attorney General (in the order you will see on the ballot)
