Elections

Early Voting Has Begun!

Posted on October 1, 2024

Photo of a political metal button reading “Early Voting” in the middle third with white stars above and below it (set against a blue background at top and a red background at bottom)Vote early at the Office of Voter Registration during office hours (normally 8:30am-4:30pm, Mon-Fri) and ending at 5pm on 11/2, the last Saturday before the election. The office is open the last two Saturdays before the election. If you miss Early Voting you can still cast a ballot at your designated voting location on Election Day (Tuesday 11/5).

For more information: https://www.charlottesville.gov/431/Early-Voting

Three great reasons to do Early Voting:

  1. Avoid potentially long lines on Election Day!
  2. Once you vote you’ll stop getting emails, texts, and door knocks from the campaigns!!
  3. You’ll know that your vote will be counted (no complications from illness, travel, etc.)

We’ve updated our website with the latest Voting and Voter Registration info: check it out to learn how to register to vote, what your voting options are, how to find your polling location, and more!

NOTE: If you miss Early Voting for any reason, you can still vote at your precinct voting location on Election Day (11/5).

Voter Registration Update

Posted on October 1, 2024

Photo of four Voter Registration volunteers group photo on Downtown Mall Summer 2024

Kudos to our Voter Registration team, which has registered more than 600 voters so far! Some 260 volunteers have  signed up to work, and 30 are regulars. Some people are doing registration work on their own, giving sheets back to Suzanne Michels for follow up. Two recent events yielded great results – the Charlottesville Pride Festival was incredible (40), and the Sabroso Festival also very good (10).

The voter registration team is scurrying to register UVA students in a variety of ways, both on grounds and on the Corner, and will start contacting those they’ve registered to help them make a voting plan. Contact Suzanne if you’d like to help with that very local phone bank: suzemichels@gmail.com.

Thank you, volunteers!!

Gloria Witt Steals the Show (is the Show) at Senior Statesmen Event

Posted on October 1, 2024

Gloria’s Republican opponent continues to duck debates with her, so she had the stage to herself at the well-attended event… and she did great!

You Can Help Gloria Witt Win!

Posted on September 12, 2024

There are many ways we can help Gloria win the Fifth District; we’re including ideas in each newsletter (for more, visit her How to Get Involved page):

Campaign flier of Gloria Witt (waist up) to the left and In white letters the words "Gloria Witt Virginia District 5". The flier has an orange background.

  • Talk to your friends and family about Gloria:
  • Share the “Gloria Witt for Congress” flier with a friend.
  • Tell people why it’s critical that they vote in EVERY election — our democracy depends on it!
  • Talk about why you’re supporting Gloria Witt for Congress on November 5. Early voting starts September 20.
  • Host a meet-and-greet to build community awareness and engagement.

Gloria will be at the following out-of-area events this weekend:

• 9/14-Appomattox Dems Flip the 5th, 3-5pm, Abbitt Park
• 9/15-Goochland County Ice Cream Social, 2-5pm, Goochland Rec Center
• 9/15-Powhatan Hot Dogs & Snacks, 4-6pm, New Greenbriar Church
