Elections
Early Voting Starts Friday, September 20
Early Voting at the Office of Voter Registration starts Sept. 20 during office hours (normally 8:30am-4:30pm, Mon-Fri) and ends at 5pm on Saturday, Nov. 2. The office is open the last two Saturdays before the election and may later set additional hours.
Three great reasons to do Early Voting:
- Avoid potentially long lines on Election Day!
- Once you vote you’ll stop getting emails, texts, and door knocks from the campaigns!!
- You’ll know that your vote will be counted (no complications from illness, travel, etc.)
We’ve updated our website with the latest Voting and Voter Registration info: check it out to learn how to register to vote, what your voting options are, how to find your polling location, and more!
NOTE: If you miss Early Voting for any reason, you can still vote at your precinct voting location on Election Day (11/5).
You Can Help Gloria Witt Win!
There are many ways we can help Gloria win the Fifth District; we’re including ideas in each newsletter (for more, visit her How to Get Involved page):
- Talk to your friends and family about Gloria:
- Share the “Gloria Witt for Congress” flier with a friend.
- Tell people why it’s critical that they vote in EVERY election — our democracy depends on it!
- Talk about why you’re supporting Gloria Witt for Congress on November 5. Early voting starts September 20.
- Host a meet-and-greet to build community awareness and engagement.
Gloria will be at the following out-of-area events this weekend:
• 9/14-Appomattox Dems Flip the 5th, 3-5pm, Abbitt Park
• 9/15-Goochland County Ice Cream Social, 2-5pm, Goochland Rec Center
• 9/15-Powhatan Hot Dogs & Snacks, 4-6pm, New Greenbriar Church
Come Out for “Turn Out the Vote Thursdays” (9/12)
Canvassing & Phone Banking with the Coordinated Campaign
In addition to “Turn Out the Vote Thursdays” at Ix, canvassing and/or phone banking with the Coordinated Campaign are also great ways to help get Kamala, Tim W., Tim K., and Gloria elected!
- Saturday Canvassing: 10am, 1pm, and 4pm
- Sunday Canvassing: 1pm and 4pm
The field team at the coordinated Harris/Kaine/Witt office will train you and then (on your already fully-charged cell phone!) set you up with a great list of doors to knock, and give you a paper map and candidate literature to pass out. To get to the doors more quickly, download the MiniVAN app to your phone and create an ActionID in the app before you arrive for your shift.
- Saturday and Sunday Phone Banking: 1pm
- Tuesday Phone Banking: 5:30pm
Canvassers and phone bankers should come to the Coordinated Campaign’s office at 1410 Incarnation Drive, Suite 203. It’s best to sign up in advance at https://www.mobilize.us/timkaine.
Let’s keep the huge national momentum going here! Volunteers are signing up and working at record rates for the Dems, and we need everyone’s assistance.
Canvassing is…
- A lovely walk with a purpose
- Getting to know Charlottesville
- Enjoying your neighbors
- Helping good candidates like Gloria Witt to win
- Being a part of American history
- Knowing you’re doing important work.
For training and materials go to:
Charlottesville Democratic Coordinated Campaign Office
1410 Incarnation Dr., Suite 203
Charlottesville, VA 22901
Canvassers leave from there:
- Every Saturday: 10am, 1pm, and 4pm
- Every Sunday: 1pm and 4pm
The field team at the Coordinated Campaign office, will train you, set you up with a great list of doors to knock, all on your cell phone (which you charged up before coming!), and give you a paper map and candidate literature. To get to the doors more quickly, retrieve your Apple ID before you go, which you’ll need in order to download the MiniVan app.
Thanks for coming out!
