“Worth Fighting For” Community Organizing Meeting (Saturday 11/23, 11am)

Posted on November 22, 2024

Cover image for the planning document "Indivisible: A Practical Guide to Democracy on the Brink. Strategies, tactics, and tips for how every day Americans can fight back together wherever we live.” In the bottom right corner is a picture of the US Capitol building and in front of it 2 signs held up by raised arms reading “Abortion is Healthcare. Healthcare is a Human Right” and “We Demand Democracy”.Indivisible Charlottesville, in cooperation with other local groups, is coordinating a “Worth Fighting For” community organizing meeting in the Downtown Central Library’s Swanson Case Room at 11am on Saturday, Nov. 23 to strategize about the Trump 2.0 Administration. Attendees will:

  • Identify the roles we can all play to defend the people and civil institutions we care about.
  • Build connections with others who are ready to fight for a just and equitable future.
  • Begin forming action plans (building on this guide circulated by Indivisible and other partner organizations after the election).

Please RSVP by signing up here, and please share this invitation with others who are ready to join the cause.

Clean Air Cville (501c3 pending), which promotes healthier indoor air quality, will provide air filters and optional masks for the meeting.

Thank You for Voting! THANK YOU for Volunteering!!

Posted on November 21, 2024

We pick ourselves up and we move forward.

This election season was full of good energy, in spite of some of the outcomes. As co-chairs of the Cville Dems, we were thrilled to have so many volunteers helping in so many ways. Your commitment to work up to and on Election Day at the polls shows how strong our party can be.

We just wanted to give you a huge thank you and say we must continue to work for a better country. We’re grateful for all you’ve done and continue to do.

In unity,

Josh Throneburg and Nancy Damon
Co-chairs, Cville Dems

Have Campaign Yard Signs? Do This.

Posted on November 21, 2024

The 2024 yard signs have served their purpose. Tim Kaine will be our Senator once again, and Gloria Witt for VA-05 and Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for the White House fought hard battles.

Some Cville Dems took signs to a metal recycling outfit, but we earned very little money from that sale. We recommend that you can take both sign wires and plastic sleeves to McIntire Recycling. The plastic signs can go into the plastic films dumpster, not far from the office. The metal signposts can go all the way to the dumpster (with stairs) on the right, for metals.

If it’s more convenient for you not to recycle on your own, please drop your signs off at Nancy Damon’s house at 2407 Jefferson Park Ave.

Help Us Use YouTube Videos to Elect Democrats

Graphic with 3-step instructions about how to best use the Cville Dems YouTube Channel. Photos from several Gloria Witt videos appear at the bottom.Videos are one of the most powerful communications tools available. Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% in text! And people are 52% more likely to share video content than any other type of content.

We need YOU to help us build up our YouTube subscriber count! We have 19 now, and we’d love to get to 50 by Election Day.

Please take a minute (that’s all) to go to the Cville Dems YouTube channel at https://youtube.com/@CvilleDemsVote and then follow the three steps in the graphic:

  1. Subscribe (and enable all notifications)
  2. Once subscribed, you can then (focusing on the Gloria Witt videos) Like, Comment, and most importantly Share the videos to your own social media channels by clicking on “Share” under a video, copying the video link, and pasting it into your own social media post on Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, etc. Feel free to add an appropriate caption.
  3. Please share the link to our YouTube channel with folks in your network and ask them to also subscribe to and share our videos.

If you take your minute above, and also ask your friends to join you, it will, as Gloria Witt would say, put the butterfly effect into action!
