The Jefferson School African American Heritage Center continues to be harassed by Confederate-sympathizing plaintiffs suing it to try to further delay the Swords into Plowshares repurposing of the Lee statue into inclusive art (an already City Council-approved project). Despite the on-going legal harassment, the Swords into Plowshares team has completed the community engagement phase and will soon begin the search for an artist to create new art in collaboration with the community.
Wednesday was the 10th anniversary of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut in which 20 first graders and 6 school staff members were murdered… one of many mass shootings in our country, and of course a few weeks ago here in Charlottesville.
VA-04 will be holding an unassembled caucus on Tuesday, December 20 and is looking for volunteers to help run the Firehouse Primary.
We’d like to extend a million “thank yous” to Josh Throneburg, his campaign staff, his family, and the army of volunteers and donors who supported him. We didn’t win last night, but we succeeded in putting out a positive message of Democratic values, compassion, and common sense. Josh deserves our gratitude and respect for going out on a limb and fighting for all the people of VA5; we can all hold our heads high.
